NT HOG call for road safety campaign
The Northern Territory Transport Minister held unscheduled talks with
members of a motorbike group today after they gatecrashed a press
conference outside Parliament House in Darwin.
The group is angry at a one year sentence handed down to
a driver responsible for the death of a motorcyclist.
Members of the Harley Owners Group trekked from the Supreme Court
to Parliament House this morning to confront the Transport Minister.
Chris Burns diffused the situation by holding an impromptu meeting
with the group.
Mick Luke says the group has been trying to track down the Minister
for eight months to discuss the need for a road safety campaign.
"Not watching out for motorbikes, something has to be done about
it and the Government has done nothing about it," he said.
Mr Luke says the Minister has agreed to try and attend another meeting
in two weeks time.
